Hands-on Learning Assistance: Overview

CfAL specializes in providing free technology-focused programs and services to low-income households.  Prior to COVID-19, CfAL operated two computer labs in New Haven, CT where individuals could visit in-person to learn and develop computer skills and receive support from CfAL’s qualified computer instructors and personnel.  In light of COVID-19, CfAL has created a Hands-on Learning Lab (HOLA!) to ensure individuals can still access computer support from the safety of their homes.  CfAL’s online service is accessible on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Common technical support offered in the computer lab ranges from technology challenges (such as creating or refining resumes, PDFing documents, and navigating Google Classroom) to resolving technical issues, such as sound and minor network challenges.  (Note: The computer lab does not “fix” or service computers. It merely helps users learn how to resolve minor issues.)
